Hyderabad: The BRS on Friday warned the state government that if the farm loan waiver promise was not fully implemented by Dasara, party leaders and workers would lay siege to the Secretariat in protest.

BRS senior leader and former minister T. Harish Rao, who took part in a protest in Nanganur mandal of Siddipet district demanding waiver of loans of those who are not yet covered, said that in Nanganur mandal alone, of the 11,000 farmers, only 5,000 received the loan waiver. “The BRS will not rest until the Congress government keeps all its promises to farmers including a Rs 500 bonus for paddy, not just for the fine variety of the crop, Rythu Bharosa of Rs 7,500 per acre per season,” Harish Rao said.

He said the previous Chandrashekar Rao government had a ‘farmer first’ policy, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had become a ‘farmer last’. “Everyone has now understood the difference between the BRS and Congress governments,” Harish Rao said.
