Hyderabad: A speeding cab rammed into an electric pole put up on the central median in Banjara Hills on Tuesday morning, triggering panic among morning walkers.

Luckily, no one was injured. However, the car’s bonnet was damaged partially due to the speed at which it rammed into the median uprooting trees on it.

The police said the accident could have occurred when the car driver was returning to office at 6 am after dropping off software engineers at their respective house after completing their night shift.

However, it was unclear whether the driver, who was absconding, dozed off while driving or could not see the median because of thick fog. “We will be able to find out the exact reasons for the accident only after tracing the driver,” the police said.

Sensing that the traffic chaos would occur during office hours in the morning if the car was not removed from the spot, the police immediately swung into action and removed it from the main road with the help of locals and ensured free flow of traffic.
