Candidate urges action on graduate voter registration challenges
Hyderabad:Graduates aiming to register as voters for the MLC elections in the Nizamabad district’s Bhimgal mandal are facing significant challenges due to a lack of awareness among the officials responsible for processing applications, said one of the candidates, Dr Bhandari Raj Kumar.
The Telangana Medical Council member and TGF founder, who intends to contest the Karimnagar, Medak, Nizamabad and Adilabad MLC constituency poll, addressed the matter upon receiving complaints from graduates.
Responding to the grievances of voters, Dr Raj Kumar said he ahd engaged with district officials and the Bhimgal tahsildar, calling for a swift resolution to prevent further obstacles for those attempting to register. He stressed the need for clarity at the grassroots level, particularly with the booth-level officers (BLOs).
“It’s unfortunate that a simple administrative gap is causing such unnecessary delays for graduates. The right to vote is fundamental, and we must ensure it is accessible to all eligible candidates,” he said.
In addition to urging district officials to streamline the registration procedures, Dr Raj Kumar advocated for an awareness session to be organised specifically for BLOs, aiming to equip them with the required knowledge to manage the registration process more efficiently. “Awareness workshops should be conducted promptly to ensure no graduate is deprived of their opportunity to vote due to administrative shortcomings,” he recommended.
