Hyderabad: The CBI is understood to have written to Interpol seeking red corner notices against former Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) chief T. Prabhakar Rao and iNews managing director A. Sravan Kumar Rao in the phone tapping case.

The two accused fled to the United States days after the Hyderabad police registered cases in connection with the phone-tapping case and arrested SIB’s suspended DSP G. Praneeth Rao.

Prabhakar Rao is said to have reserved flight tickets for himself and his wife on February 15, 2024, and left for the US following health grounds. He was supposed to return on June 2 but put it off following the probe into the phone-tapping case.

The investigating officer served notices to Nishanth Rao, son of the officer, on April 19 and April 24, seeking furnishing of certain information and documents which were promptly replied. On March 22 and March 23, Nishant Rao promised to cooperate with the police. As Prabhakar Rao delayed his return journey, the Hyderabad police wrote to CBI seeking Interpol in serving red corner notices.
