CCI restarts procurement after Kishan’s intervention

Hyderabad:The stalemate in cotton procurement by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) in Telangana ended after Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy spoke with Union minister for textiles Giriraj Singh and explained the condition in the state.

Now, the CCI would follow the same guidelines adopted in the last crop season in procuring cotton from farmers. The CCI also agreed to open up the same number of purchase centers in the state.

The CCI would procure the cotton at `7,350 per quintal from the farmers. Kishan Reddy, in a statement, asked the farmers not to fall prey to rumors spread by the middlemen and approach the CCI centers to sell their cotton.
