Centre providing requisite and timely aid to flood-hit Telangana, AP: MHA
Hyderabad: The Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is providing all requisite and timely assistance to flood-affected Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in relief and rescue efforts.
On the directions of Home Minister Amit Shah, a central team of experts has been deputed for Vijaywada to make an on-the-spot assessment of flood-management, reservoir management, issues of dam safety and making recommendations for immediate relief from the flood, said Sanjeev Jindal, Additional Secretary, MHA .
The MHA has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) which will visit affected areas in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana shortly for making an on-the-spot assessment of the damage caused by the floods. As many as 26 teams of National Disaster Response Force and eight helicopters of the Indian Air Force, three helicopters and one dornier aircraft of the Indian Navy have been mobilized in Andhra Pradesh.
Seven teams of NDRF and two helicopters of IAF have been mobilized in Telangana for rescue and relief activities. The NDRF teams, so far, have rescued 350 people and evacuated about 15,000 persons in Andhra Pradesh. In Telangana, they have rescued 68 persons and evacuated about 3200 persons, Sanjeev Jindal said.
