Hyderabad: The BRS dismissed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s statements that the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) had no impact on the state’s bumper paddy crop this season. Instead, BRS leaders asserted that two pump houses constructed under KLIS contributed big time to irrigation, resulting in the successful harvest.
Senior BRS leader, former MP, and ex-vice-chairman of the Telangana Planning Board, B. Vinod Kumar, addressed a press conference to refute the Chief Minister’s remarks. He emphasised that the pump houses at Yellampalli and Mid-Manair reservoirs, integral parts of KLIS, were actively used this season to pump water for irrigation. “Even during the KCR regime, when rains were favourable, water was not pumped from Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages of KLIS. Are Yellampalli and Mid-Manair pump houses not part of KLIS? The Chief Minister’s comments show his lack of understanding of the subject,” Kumar stated.
