Warangal:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said that the Congress government was focussed on the development of North Telangana region and unveiled his vision to transform Warangal into the second major city in Telangana, following Hyderabad.

As part of the Congress government's commitment, Revanth Reddy launched a series of infrastructure and welfare projects worth ₹4,848.47 crore in Warangal district. These initiatives were unveiled during the ;Praja Palana Vijayostsavalu’ at Arts College in Hanamkonda, marking the first anniversary of the Congress government in the state.

Highlighting the lack of sufficient airports compared to neighboring states which have four to five, Revanth Reddy announced plans to establish four airports, including at Warangal, Kothagudem and Ramagundam. “The Congress government is ready to enhance regional connectivity, starting with a ₹205 crore allocation for the Mamnoor airport in Waranga,” he said.

Revanth Reddy emphasised Warangal’s historical and cultural significance, referring to its rich heritage from the Kakatiya dynasty. “Warangal’s lakes and tanks are treasures of the Kakatiya kings. Developing this city on all fronts is my top priority, and I will not rest until this is achieved,” he asserted.

The government’s commitment to Warangal is underscored by its ₹6,000 crore allocation for the city’s development. “If Warangal flourishes, half of Telangana will be developed,” the CM said, pledging to work tirelessly until the historical city matches Hyderabad in prominence and infrastructure.

Drawing inspiration from former prime minister Indira Gandhi, Revanth Reddy launched an initiative to make one crore women crorepatis by supporting women self help groups (SHGs) with interest-free loans. The government plans to promote women-led businesses on par with major corporate houses like Tata and Birla.

He declared that Warangal’s women leaders like ministers Konda Surekha and Danasari Anasuya ‘Seethakka’ would continue to play prominent roles in the Congress government.

“Our women leaders have defeated political demons, and this government proudly stands as a government for women,” he said, noting the appointment of a woman Chief Secretary and increased representation of women in his cabinet contrary to previous BRS government which had no representation of women in the cabinet during its entire first term in office from 2014 to 2023.

Revanth Reddy criticised the previous BRS government for its failure to complete long-pending projects, including the Kaloji Kalakshetram. “The Congress government has shown determination and delivered on projects that the opposition left incomplete. We will expose conspiracies against development and hold detractors accountable,” he warned.

The CM urged the people to support the government’s development agenda, asserting confidence in the Congress party’s ability to deliver transformative change in Telangana.

He inaugurated several projects aimed at upgrading the district’s infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents. These include Kaloji Kalakshetram constructed at a cost of ₹90 crore and completed in record time after a decade of neglect by the previous BRS government.

He launched underground drainage system works at a cost of ₹4,170 crore to modernise Warangal's sanitation and water management, Naimnagar Nala and Bridge which was completed at ₹8.3 crore to improve connectivity, a new building for Government Polytechnic College being constructed at a cost of ₹28 crore.

Additionally, the government allocated funds for critical initiatives, including ₹205 crore for an airport in Mamnoor, ₹160.3 crore for flood drainage systems, and ₹65 crore for the expansion of Parakala and Erragattugutta Road.
