Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday felicitated and announced a cash reward of Rs.25 lakh each for chess players Arjun and Harika in recognition of their outstanding performances at the recently concluded 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad held in Budapest, Hungary from September 10 to 23.

Arjun is world rank - 3, while Harika is world rank 11. Both the Indian men’s and women’s teams made history by winning team gold medals, with Arjun also securing an additional individual gold medal for India, further elevating the nation’s stature on the global chess stage.

The felicitation ceremony was graced by the presence of Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswar Rao and MLA Nayini Rajendher Reddy and Adviser Vema Narender Reddy, Sports Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy, and Sports MD Soni Bala Devi along with other esteemed dignitaries.

This recognition is a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting and supporting excellence in sports, honoring the remarkable achievements of Indian athletes on the world stage.
