Siddipet: In a shocking incident, community leaders boycotted a former sarpanch’s family and refused to take part in his last rites at Boppapur village of Akbarnagar Bhumpally mandal in Siddipet district. Former sarpanch Bandameedi Sailoo, 71, had a dispute with the community over a piece of land in Boppapur village.

Sailoo died on Tuesday, but the community elders did not attend his last rites. Earlier, village elders conducted a panchayat to settle the land dispute with Sailoo and other community members, but in vain.

The community declared that the social boycott of the former sarpanch’s family would continue. They also warned that Rs 5,000 penalty will be imposed on whosoever violates the social boycott and attends the last rites.

The deceased’s family members conducted the last rites without the participation of the community members. Sailoo’s family alleged that the community elders harassed them with a social boycott and they urged the Siddipet district administration to take necessary steps in this regard.
