Hyderabad: A real estate venture titled Sandhya Gardens has reportedly encroached into the Himayatsagar, according to a complaint lodged by activist Lubna Sarwath with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath.

According to the complaint, Sandhya Gardens personnel have been dumping mud in the sikham area of the lake in Survey No. 60 by encroaching on the land falling under Survey No.s 83, 84 and 91.

The complaint featured extracts from data with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) from last year, juxtaposed with Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) master plan depicting the extent of Himayatsagar sikham/government land in Survey No. 60.

The complainant mentioned that Himayatsagar GIS-referenced village cadastral map was not made available on the Dharani website.

"As per the Supreme Court orders, under Article 21 which extends to the right to life with dignity, change of land use of water zone that can never be done," said Dr Sarwath.
