Hyderabad:BJP OBC Morcha president Dr K. Laxman on Saturday said the congress government in Telangana was coming up with promises of AI City and Health City to shift attention from the failed farm loan waiver.

More than 70 per cent of farmers in the state failed to get farm loan waiver due to several conditions set forth by the government, he said.

At a press conference, Laxman said Telangana state was bankrupt with misguided policies and programmes. The Congress has made the state an ATM for it leaders in New Delhi, he said.

“The government failed to fulfil the farm loan waiver, but is coming out with new policies like forming a board for Yadadri temple, making tall claims of a zoo park on 1,000 acres and demolition drive by HYDRAA. All this is to turn the attention of the people from burning issues,” he said.

“The agency areas are in the grip of viral fevers. The government hospitals are in bad condition with lack of staff and medicines. The government is not in a position to provide dengue kits to the patients in the agency areas and clear the dues of Aarogyasri. The sanitation works in gram panchayats have badly hit due to lack of funds. The government had not cleared the funds of many pending works and it led to bad civic conditions in the rural areas,” Laxman said.

“Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made tall claims and announced several freebies during the Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. He used the phrase ‘Khata khat, khata khat’ during the Assembly elections, promising speedy implementation of poll promises after the Congress came to power. But, the Congress had miserably failed in implementing the farm loan waiver in Telangana and Old Pension Scheme in Himachal Pradesh. Even after eight months of coming to power, the Congress in Telangana has not taken up Rythu Bharosa, unemployment incentive and hike in women pension,” he said.

Stating that the BJP is not against removing illegal structures, Laxman asked the government to release a white paper on the number of farm houses constructed in Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar by VIPs in the state.

The government must act in a transparent and unbiased manner in removing the illegal structures, he said.

Demanding the state government to release a white paper on encroached endowment lands, assignment lands and Shikam lands in the state, Laxman said that the BJP will shortly announce an agitation programme against the failed poll promises of the Congress government.
