Congress govt brought cheers to Gulf migrants, kin

Nizamabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s NRI cell convener Sheik Chand Pasha said the Congress government brought cheers among Gulf migrants and their families. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy fulfilled his election promise of Gulf Board and Rs 5 lakh ex gratia for the kin of the deceased Gulf migrant workers, he said. He recalled that then Congress CM Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy brought 70,000 Gulf migrant workers to the state at government expenses.


TPCC NRI cell president and retired ambassador Vinod Kumar and others felicitated Chand Pasha at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad. Speaking at the meeting, Chand Pasha said they conducted Pala Abhisekham to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at various places.



Former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had promised to set up the Gulf Board with a Rs 500 crore budget and Rs 5 lakh ex gratia, but failed to implement them, he said.

BRS government also cancelled Rs 1 lakh financial aid to the Gulf migrant families, the TPCC NRI cell convener said. He thanked TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MLC T. Jeevan Reddy and Congress MLAs for taking initiative for Gulf migrants’ welfare.
