Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy here on Saturday said the Congress government would support and extend necessary help to Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute in Banjara Hills.

Speaking at the 24th anniversary celebrations of the institute, he said he got an opportunity to work on par with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on taking up various development activities and implementing welfare initiatives.

The two Telugu States must be role models for the country in welfare and development initiatives, he said, adding that the State government was seriously considering making Telangana a hub for medical tourism. All types of medical facilities would be available in the medical tourism hub.

The institute, which was the brainchild of former Chief Minister late NT Rama Rao, would be one among the hospitals that would be included in the hub. For the last 24 years, the institute has been extending services to lakhs of patients.

Rama Rao established the institute to extend treatment to the poor patients, he added.
