ADILABAD: Congress leaders and cadre on Monday urged the top leadership to oust BRS and BJP members from village-level Indiramma housing committees and to clear pending bills, ahead of the upcoming local body elections.

At the Adilabad Parliament Constituency level meeting in Adilabad, Congress leaders Ade Gajender and P. Chanti of Boath voiced concerns that the inclusion of BJP and BRS leaders in the Indiramma committees would strengthen their political influence and diminish respect for Congress leaders among local residents.

The leaders appealed to minister for rural development Seethakka, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, and Telangana Congress in-charge Deepa Dasmunshi to remove BJP and BRS members from the committees. They proposed forming committees exclusively with five Congress leaders to better serve the public.

Party cadre and second-tier leaders expressed that Congress was falling behind the BRS on social media, which was engaging in anti-propaganda against the party. They called on the top leadership to recognize and support senior Congress leaders who are working diligently to bring the party to power.

In response, Seethakka assured that Congress leaders would collaborate with local leaders and need not worry about BJP and BRS members in the Indiramma committees, emphasizing the importance of providing Indiramma houses to the poor. Deepadas Munshi encouraged cadre and second-tier leaders to work together to strengthen the party from the grassroots. TPCC president Maheshkumar Goud promised to allocate tickets to deserving candidates in the local body elections and urged party members to remain committed despite any disappointments.

The meeting was attended by MLC Dande Vittal, former MLC Puranam Satish, Nirmal DCC president Sirhari Rao, senior Congress leaders Sathu Mallesh, Boath party in-charge Ade Gajender, Mallepula Narsaiah, and others.

Earlier, alongside local MLA Payal Shankar, minister Seethakka inaugurated several development projects and participated in Road Safety Week celebrations. She also inaugurated the newly established command control centre and transgender clinic, laid the foundation stone for a PHC in Dubbaguda, and conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for Indiramma model houses.

Seethakka further inaugurated the Mandala Samakya building and distributed ₹102 crore in bank cheques to 1,550 SHG groups in Adilabad district, highlighting the Congress government's focus on empowering women through various welfare schemes. The event was attended by collector Rajarshi Shah, superintendent of police Gaush Alam, additional collector Shyamala Devi, trainee collector Abhi Gyan, Adilabad DSP Jeevan Reddy, and others.
