Congress MLA Medipally Satyam Receives Life Threat on Phone
Karimnagar: Congress MLA from Choppadandi, Medipally Satyam, got a life-threatening call from an unknown person who demanded Rs 20 lakh. Following the MLA’s complaint, Kothapally police registered a case and issued a lookout circular in Karimnagar on Wednesday.
According to Karimnagar rural ACP Venkataramana, MLA Satyam received a WhatsApp call from the number +447886696497 at night. The caller demanded Rs 20 lakh, threatening to tarnish the MLA’s reputation if he didn’t comply. Moreover, the caller issued a life threat, warning that the MLA’s children would become orphans if he informed the police.
Based on the MLA's complaint at the Kothapally police station, a case was registered under IPC sections 308 and 351 (3) r/w (4), and an investigation commenced.
Police determined that the call originated from a foreign country. After analysing the phone number, they identified it as a London number.
Further tracing led to the identification of the caller as 33-year-old Yasa Akhilesh Reddy, a resident of Bhavani Nagar in Boduppal, Hyderabad. Since Reddy was living in London and made the call from there, police issued a lookout notice through the Bureau of Immigration after obtaining his London address from his family, the ACP stated.
