Construction workers to be shifted: MA&UD Principal Secretary
Hyderabad: In view of the incessant rains across the state, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) principal secretary M. Dana Kishore on Sunday instructed builders of under construction sites to relocate their labourers to safe places to avoid on-site accidents.
"A total of 610 teams from GHMC (Greater hyderabad Municipal Corporation), HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency), HMWS&SB (Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board) and HMDA (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority) are on the field (for relief works),” he said.
Similarly, he asked GHMC officials to inspect dilapidated buildings and take appropriate action. He also asked them to inspect nalas and alert the people in the vicinity through loudspeakers.
The Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI) and National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) were asked to give instructions to their associate members and builders to relocate labourers to safe places in order to protect them from accidents like wall collapses, and also to take assistance of GHMC officials. Kishore also held a teleconference with officials of GHMC, HYDRA, HMWSSB and HMDA.
The HMWS&SB officials were instructed to provide chlorine tablets in slums and take up works to avoid drinking water contamination. The MA&UD principal secretary visited Hussain Sagar on Sunday. Other officials including HYDRAA commissioner A.V Ranganath, GHMC commissioner Amrapali Kata, HMDA commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad also visited rain affected areas in the city.
