Warangal: A police constable from the CID department lodged a false case against eight minors including three girls who were between seven and 10 for claiming insurance for a damaged car which is not even registered in his name here at Subedari police station in Hanamkonda.

The incident that took place two months back came to light when police called the parents of the minors to hand over the FIR on September 24.

The police constable identified as K. Raju lodged the complaint on August 5, alleging that the minor boys were ill-treating his daughter by writing offensive messages on the car and their parents, when contacted, threatened him.
The police instead of counselling the boys and parents of both the parties, straightway registered a case under sections 324 (5) and 296 (b) r/w 3/5 of the BNS against the minors and issued an FIR to the constable so that he can claim the insurance.

Meanwhile, the matter circulating on social media received showed the police in poor light.

Sudhakar, one of the parents, told Deccan Chronicle that several members live in the same apartment and all the children including the daughter of the police constable play together daily.

But some of the boys had written some offensive messages on the car to tease the girl. When the constable brought the issue to the notice of the apartment committee, they called all the parents and tried to settle the issue. The parents along with minor boys apologised to the family members of the constable for the mistake done by their kids.

But the constable demanded Rs 1.2 lakh for repairing his car and threatened that he would lodge a police case if they did not pay the amount. He did not even listen to the committee members when the parents assured him of repairing the car.

Constable Raju lodged a false case against the boys and dragged them to police station and created a ruckus, he added.

The children after realizing their mistake are panicked and fearing to go out and play with other children and are staying indoors all the time.
