 Nizamabad: District collector and Nizamabad parliamentary constituency elections returning officer Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu directed the officials to conduct the counting of votes without any errors on June 4 by following the Election Commission of India (ECI) norms. The counting will start with postal ballots and if any postal ballot becomes invalid, the reasons should be explained to the contested candidates and their agents, he said. The collector, along with general observer Elies Vaj R, commissioner of police Kalmeshwar Singanevar, additional collectors S.Kiran Kumar, Ankit, and Nizamabad municipal commissioner Makarand visited the counting centre at CMC Dichpally on Sunday.

The collector said the counting would be held Assembly segment-wise. If any technical problem arises in EVMs during the counting process, the technical staff will resolve it, he said. Only counting pass holders will be allowed into the counting centre, he said. Basic amenities have been provided for staff and the entire process will be held transparently, he said. CP said that Section 144 will be in force in and around the counting centre. Assistant returning officers and other officers were present.
