Create Jobs for Transgenders, Komatireddy Tells Officials

Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkatareddy on Monday instructed the district administration to create livelihood opportunities for the transgender community.

The minister distributed certificates to transgender individuals who completed three-month courses in Business Operations and Hospitality Management at the prestigious National Institute of Hospitality Management (NITHM). The ceremony took place in Gundrampally of Chityal Mandal.

Komatireddy Venkatareddy is confident that this initiative will not only help transgenders overcome discrimination and poverty but also provide them with dignified jobs. He pledged further support, including financial aid of Rs 2 lakh from the Prateek Foundation for additional training and awareness programmes.

After the training, the Terminus Group announced plans to establish HOPE cafes for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and transgender individuals along highways. Each cafe, aimed at providing sustainable livelihoods, will be funded under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Terminus Group, with an estimated cost of Rs 40 lakh per cafe.

The event was attended by Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, secretary of roads and buildings Dasari Harichandana, and district collector C. Narayanreddy.
