Hyderabad: Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari said that all arrangements had been made for the Group-1 Mains examinations to be held from October 21 to 27. She said that 31,383 candidates were appearing for the examinations across 46 centres in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts and that security has been provided at all centres to prevent untoward incidents.

Reviewing arrangements at a video conference here on Thursday, Santhi Kumari said district collectors would directly supervise the conduct of these examinations and the respective police commissioners will make appropriate arrangements.

TGPSC chairman M. Mahender Reddy said that in the current situation, where social media is active, conducting exams is quite challenging. In this context, proper precautions should be taken to avoid any misconceptions and rumours.

DGP Dr Jitender pointed out that elaborate arrangements have been made at all examination centres. TGPSC secretary Naveen Nicholas said that CCTVs have been installed in every examination hall, chief superintendent's room and surrounding areas. They will be monitored through the control room set up in the commission’s office.

He said that special staff has been deployed to take biometric attendance of the candidates. No candidate will be allowed inside after 1.30 pm, he said.

Nicolas said that around 85 per cent candidates have downloaded their hall tickets. He said that an extra hour is allocated specially for the disabled. Candidates who need assistants (scribes) to write the exam, have been asked to specifically mention on the hall tickets of those candidates for whom four separate centres have been set up.

Family welfare department commissioner Karnan said that special medical camps have been arranged at all examination centres.

Southern discom MD Musharraf Ali Faruqui said that steps had been taken to ensure continuous power supply, while TGSRTC officials said that special buses have been arranged for the convenience of the candidates.
