Cyberabad Police Recover 570 Stolen Mobiles Worth ₹1.50 Crore
Hyderabad:Cyberabad police handed over 570 stolen and lost mobile phones, all worth ₹1.50 crore, that were found in 25 days, to their owners on Friday. The phones were traced using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.
Cyberabad DCP (crimes) K. Narasimha, who handed over the phones, said, "In the past eight months, Cyberabad police recovered 2,696 stolen mobile phones. Of the 1,200 phones recovered in the last three months, 101 were from Madhapur CCS, 87 from Rajendranagar, 100 from Shamshabad, 95 from Medchal, 97 from Balanagar, and 90 by the IT cell."
He urged the public to report lost mobile phones either at the nearest police station or directly through the CEIR portal. He said that using the portal helps prevent misuse of stolen phones and facilitates their speedy recovery.
Many recipients shared their experience and the meticulous manner the police were able to track down the culprits from whom they recovered the stolen instruments.
The Telangana police have continued to top in the recovery of lost or stolen mobile phones using the CEIR portal.
