Cycling Tuesdays mission launched
Hyderabad: Union sports minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has launched the #FitIndiaCyclingTuesdays campaign, an initiative that aims to promote fitness, sustainability and healthier lifestyles through cycling. Starting on December 17, the campaign encourages people to dedicate at least 30 minutes every Tuesday to cycling, individually or in groups, for commuting or fitness purposes.
The goal of this initiative is to create a collective effort by India's cycling community to tackle pressing issues like pollution, traffic congestion and poor public health. By making cycling a regular activity, the campaign aims to spark a behavioral change that will contribute to a greener, fitter and healthier nation.
“This initiative is supported by the #CyclingCommunityOfIndia, a network of cyclists working to spread the movement across the country. Together, we aim to unite cyclists from all over India for a healthier and more sustainable future,” said Santhana Selvan, bicycle mayor of Hyderabad. This cycling campaign will be launched with cycling rides in thousands of locations across India, said a press release on Monday. Dr. Mandaviya will kick off the campaign with a large cycling ride in New Delhi, involving thousands of riders.
