Cyclothon Promotes Environmental Awareness in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabadis turning out to raise awareness for environmental protection on a Sunday morning is a great feat, pointing in the right direction for the future generation, said Pullela Gopichand at the 'Pedal for the Planet' Cyclothon held at Rashtrapati Nilayam. The event, organised in line with this month's World Environment Day and supported by NMDC and the Hyderabad Cyclist Group, saw the participation of over 1,000 people who cycled from Rashtrapati Nilayam to ECIL crossroads.

Addressing the gathering, Gopichand praised the President's Office for promoting healthy habits like cycling. The event began with a pledge on environmental conservation, followed by children chanting awareness slogans. Participants were treated to refreshments and goodies and had the opportunity to tour the historic Rashtrapati Nilayam, which is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm.

The event aligns with the President's vision of enhancing citizen engagement and contributing to environmental sustainability, the organisers said. The cyclothon not only promoted physical fitness but also raised awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.

The cyclothon concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to continue promoting environmental awareness and healthy living through regular physical activity.
