D. Srinivas Accorded State Funeral, People / Leaders Pay Last Respect
Nizamabad: People and leaders of all political parties bid a tearful farewell to former AP Congress Committee president D. Srinivas (DS), who died due to a heart attack.
His last rites were performed with state honours at the farmhouse of Srinivas on the bypass road in Nizamabad.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy visited the residence of Srinivas in Pragathinagar and paid his tributes. Many flexi boards came up in various areas of Nizamabad expressing condolences to the departed leader. A huge number of people from undivided Nizamabad and other districts took part in the funeral.
Barricades were set up at the residence of DS in Pragathinagar, as a huge number of people turned up for paying their last respects.
The Anthima Yatra from Pragathinagar to the farmhouse on bypass road went through Yellammagutta cross road, railway under bridge and Kanteshwar. Leaders and people raised slogans like D. Srinivas Amar Hai and Seenanna Johar during the Anthima Yatra.
Congress, BJP, BRS and other leaders offered floral tributes to Srinivas. A few women wept inconsolably seeing the dead body of their leader.
Nizamabad district collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, police commissioner Kalmeshwar Shinganevar, DIG Sudheer Babu, municipal commissioner Makarand, and additional collector Kiran Kumar were present at the state funeral.
Gunmen fired into the air during the last rites. DS’ sons – MP Arvind Dharmapuri and former mayor Dharmapuri Sanjay and other family members, former PCC president V. Hanumantha Rao, former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, BJP MP Etala Rajender, MLAs P. Sudarshan Reddy, R. Bhupathi Reddy, Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, Paidi Rakesh Reddy and G. Vivek, MLCs T. Jeevan Reddy and B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, former ministers Mandava Venkateshwar Rao, Nerella Anjaneyulu, mayor Neethu Kiran, former MLAs E. Laxminarayana, Bigala Ganesh Gupta and Eravathri Anil, former MLCs D. Rajeshwar, A. Narsa Reddy and Akula Lalitha were among those present.
AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge expressed grief over the death of the former PCC president D. Srinivas. He recalled the services of Srinivas to the Congress party and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
