DC Impact: Drainage Repairs Begin in Kapra's Saket Mithila Colony
Hyderabad: After months of struggling with severe overflowing drains, residents of Saket Mithila Colony in Kapra municipality finally have hope. The response of the HMWS&SB started following a report in these columns, ‘Kapra battles drainage issues’ on October 17, that highlighted the matter.
For over two months prior to that, residents dealt with foul-smelling water flooding their colony, making it difficult to use the main entrance. There were reports of waterborne diseases and snakes entering the area.
Raju Reddy, a resident described how the poor drainage system turned their daily lives into a nightmare. Despite filing multiple complaints, no action was taken, until the Deccan Chronicle got published, he added.
HMWS&SB officials visited the colony for inspection. Within 15 days, residents were informed that once the tender gets approved they would start fixing the drainage issue. Work has now begun, offering relief to the residents.
The residents thanked Deccan Chronicle for highlighting their issues and making a difference.
