Deceased SI’s family members stage rasta roko

Warangal: Family members and relatives of Aswaraopet sub-inspector Sriramulu Srinu, who died after consuming a herbicide on Sunday, staged a rasta roko on the national highway with the dead body, demanding suspension of the police personnel responsible for his death.
A native of Narakkapet village in Nallabelli mandal of Warangal district, Sriramulu had been working as SI at Aswaraopet police station in Mahabubabad district. Apparently under work pressure, he consumed herbicide on June 30.
Sriramulu was shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal and later to Hyderabad, where he died while undergoing treatment in the early hours on Sunday.
His family members, relatives and villagers, led by BRS party former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy from Narsampet, participated in the rasta roko on the highway along with the SI’s dead body. His family members alleged Sriramulu committed suicide because of severe work load and pressure exerted by senior officials.
Holding the state government responsible for the death of the SI, Sudarshan Reddy demanded that the government sanction ex gratia of ₹1 crore, apart from suspension of police personnel responsible for his death.
Sriramulu’s aunt Dhara Rajamma (60), after learning about his death, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and died at her village Nachinapalli in Duggondi mandal of Narsampet constituency.
