Hyderabad: The Nampally Special Magistrate Court in Hyderabad has directed minister Konda Surekha to appear before the court on December 12 in a defamation case registered against her on Thursday.

The case was registered on a petition filed by actor Akkineni Nagarjuna. The court took cognisance of the complaint, issued summons to the minister and ordered the case to be registered under BNS Section 356.

The case was registered after the minister made allegedlyderogatory remarks about Nagarjuna's family and actress Samantha. The actor claimed that minister’s comments had severely damaged the reputation of his family and caused emotional distress.
In his petition, Nagarjuna stated that Surekha made these remarks without evidence. Nagarjuna had previously appeared in court to record his statement, submitted evidence, including a video of the minister’s comments. Statements from witnesses, including Nagarjuna’s niece Supriya Yarlagadda, were recorded.
