Warangal: Four people died due to dengue within a week here in the erstwhile Warangal and Karimnagar districts. With rains subsiding in both districts, garbage has accumulated in the drainage canals and caused water-logging in various colonies, resulting in the spread of the contagious disease. For the past few days, the state-run government hospitals have been witnessing a huge rush of patients, including children and the aged, who are suffering from dengue, viral and seasonal fevers in both the erstwhile districts.

A week back, in a tragic incident, a pregnant woman named Thallapally Shirisha, 30, a resident of Narayanpur village of Yellareddypet mandal in Rajanna Sircilla district, died after suffering from dengue. During the treatment, she gave birth to a baby girl, however, both of them died due to their poor health condition.

A four-year-old Hathwika, a resident of Thorrur town of Mahabubabad district, died due to dengue on Wednesday. A woman named Boda Shirisha, 34, a resident of Gudi Thanda of Beruwada village panchayat of Kesamudram in Mahabubabad district, was admitted to a hospital at Hanamkonda as she was suffering from fever. As the doctors confirmed that she had dengue fever, she was shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where she died undergoing treatment on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the district administration of both the erstwhile districts, along with the officials of medical and health and municipal departments, are taking preventive measures to curb the growth of the mosquito population and mitigate the fevers.
