Din over MLAs’ drunken test sparks row in House
Hyderabad:Allegations about intoxications led to a war of words between the treasury benches and BRS members in the Assembly on Wednesday. The episode finally led to the speaker ordering expunging of the remarks from the records.
The exchange started after BRS leader T. Harish Rao suggested there needs to be a drunken test of members before entering the house more than on the roads.
The remarks came even as the minister for roads and buildings, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, was giving an elaborate answer to a question on the status of NGT clearance to the conversion of Karimnagar-Kamareddy-Yellareddy State Highway into a national highway.
This led to a protest from the treasury benches and the Congress MLA, Beerla Ilaiah, alleged that some members are getting drunk and sitting in the farmhouse in a veiled reference to BRS president KCR.
As allegations over this were thrown against each other, the speaker intervened and ordered expunging of the remarks from the records.
