HYDERABAD: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy called on irrigation department officials to speed up the completion of works on the Sitarama lift irrigation scheme, inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on August 15. He said delays in the progress of works would not be tolerated.

The irrigation minister called on officials to ensure timely completion of land acquisition, tender processes, and coordinate with other departments as needed to sort out issues, including those technical in nature.

Uttam Kumar Reddy was speaking at a review meeting with officials in which ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao from Khammam district were present, on Friday.

The government has planned to complete the Sitarama scheme and bring it fully on stream by 2026, Uttam Kumar Reddy said. Friday’s review meeting on the project was attended among others by irrigation adviser Adityanath Das, principal secretary Rahul Bojja, special secretary Prashant Jeevan Patil, and ENCs Anil Kumar, and Nagender Rao, according to a press release.
