DRI seizes foreign currency worth Rs. 67.11 lakh at RGIA

Hyderabad: Acting on a specific intelligence, the officers of Hyderabad zonal unit of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested a passenger bound to travel to Dubai from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, for allegedly possessing foreign currency.

After opening the hand baggage of the passenger, foreign currency (US Dollars), equivalent to Indian currency to the tune of Rs. 67.11 lakh was found. The currency was cleverly concealed beneath the plastic support sheets in the internal bottom and top sides of the trolley bag.

The foreign currency has been seized and the passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act-1962 and remanded him to judicial custody. Further investigation to identify the network is in progress.
