Drug racket busted in Hyderabad suburbs ahead of New Year celebrations, 2 held

The duo conspired to get drugs in view of the demand for the New Year celebrations but the alert police foiled their attempts and nabbed them. As many as one kg MDMA and four mobile phones were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Salim Adbul Hamid Shaikh alias Salim, 30, a drug peddler and native of Islampura in Mumbai and Mukesh Dubey, 30, a drug peddler and native of Mumbai, the police said.

Another peddler, Rayees Riyaz Shaikh alias Aayan, 33, of Mumbai was absconding along with suppliers - Jerry, 40, and Jimmy, 40, both residents of New Delhi. The duo was native of Nigeria.

Following credible information, the TGANB and Patancheru police worked on leads and apprehended two persons who were in possession of MDMA and trying to sell the same to the needy customers in the limits of Patancharu.

Salim while working as a car mechanic in Mumbai came into contact with Rayees through an app and they both got addicted to consuming MDMA. As there was heavy demand for MDMA in Mumbai and Hyderabad, they hatched a plan to purchase it at a lower price and sell the same at higher price to earn easy money.

At the same time, they came in contact with two Nigerian drug peddlers Jerry and Jimmy. They started purchasing MDMA from Jerry and Jimmy for Rs.1,000 per gram and used to sell the same to the needy customers for Rs.4,000 to Rs.5,000 per gram. In the process, they also came in contact with one more drug peddler by Shaik Amer of Hyderabad.

Shaik Amer used to purchase MDMA from them and was selling to his customers in Hyderabad. He used to go to Mumbai to purchase MDMA from Salim and Rayees. Salim was also having a friend Mukesh Dubey, who also used to assist him and Rayees to deliver MDMA to their customers.

Both used to pay commission to him for every delivery. They used to send Mukesh Dubey to Delhi to collect MDMA from Jerry and Jimmy. Ten days ago, Salim and Rayees purchased 1320 grams MDMA from Jerry and Jimmy and sold 320 grams MDMA to Shaik Amer.

In view of New Year, Shaik Amer asked him to get more MDMA. As per instructions of Shaik Amer on December 20, he along with Mukesh Dubey came to Hyderabad to sell the remaining 1 kg of MDMA to Shaik Amer.

Upon information, the Patancheru police with the assistance of TGANB apprehended them apart from seizing one kg kg MDMA.

In an appeal to the public, the police said they noticed several youth and students getting addicted to drugs, committing crime and involving in other anti-social activities. Several families have become victims of this menace.

“It is an ardent request from TGANB to the youth and students not to fall prey to drugs and request the parents to keep a watch on the activities of their children and feel free to approach police or pass information to them on phone number: 8712671111 and toll free number 1908 to curtail such anti-social activities and strive for drug free city,” the police said.
