Dry weather predicted in Telangana with above-normal temperatures
Hyderabad: Telangana is expected to experience dry weather conditions over the coming week, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Early mornings and late evenings will bring a slight chill, but minimum temperatures across the state are predicted to remain above normal, signalling a deviation from typical December weather patterns, the forecast read.
On Wednesday, Adilabad recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 8.5°C, significantly below the district’s average of 14.2°C. Northern Telangana regions, including Kumuram Bheem and Nirmal, also reported cooler nights with minimum temperatures of 9.7°C and 11.5°C, respectively.
In contrast, Hyderabad experienced a relatively mild minimum of 16.9°C, slightly above its normal of 16°C, reflecting the state-wide trend of warmer-than-usual weather. Other districts such as Mahabubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, and Wanaparthy reported minimum temperatures in the range of 16.4°C to 18.8°C, among the highest in the state.
November and early December are usually marked by mild cold wave conditions, particularly in northern parts of Telangana. However, this year, warmer temperatures have dominated. The state’s average minimum temperature is currently at 16.5°C, marginally above the seasonal normal of 16°C.
Dharma Raju, scientist C at the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, attributed this to prevailing easterly and north-easterly winds. “The weather will largely remain dry throughout the week, with no significant cold wave activity expected,” he noted.
Hazy or misty mornings are likely in a few districts over the next three days, but no extreme cold conditions or rainfall are forecast. The IMD confirmed that dry weather will dominate Telangana, with no weather warnings issued for the region. As December progresses, the deviation from normal cold weather is becoming evident. While mornings may feel slightly cold, daytime conditions are expected to be warm and slightly uncomfortable in some areas.
