Hyderabad: An elevated corridor from Paradise Junction near Gymkhana Grounds in Secunderabad to Outer Ring Road (ORR) Junction near Shamirpet on Rajiv Rahadari State Highway would ease traffic congestion.

The foundation stone for the elevated corridor was laid with an aim to ensure hassle-free journey to motorists, said Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar here on Friday. The Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who was earlier elected as an MP from Malkajgiri Parliament constituency in which cantonment areas also included, was aware of the problems in the locality.

In coordination with the defense ministry, the State government would expedite the construction of the corridor. He, however, said there would be no benefit if funds were given to the Central government for the land that would be acquired for the construction of the corridor.

Stating that the State government was committed for the overall development of Secunderabad Cantonment similar to the GHMC areas, he said the government would accord priority for improving amenities like underground drainage and roads in the cantonment areas.

Speaking to media persons after reviewing integrated household survey in cantonment areas, he examined dhobi ghat grounds to develop into a sports complex. The sports complex would be developed by the Sports Authority of Telangana, he added.
