Etala Vows to Secure Funds for LS Seat
The event was organised by the people from the Kothapet division, led by local corporator Pavan Kumar, former MLA Bethi Subash Reddy, and Ranga Reddy district BJP president Sama Ranga Reddy. The BJP MP was felicitated for winning the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat by a record margin.
Further, Etala said that the funds sanctioned from the Centre and state governments would be used fully to address issues concerning the people. Crediting his victory in the general elections to every household and person of his constituency, Etala said that although he differed with four former chief ministers on several policies and programmes on the floor of the House, he used to meet those leaders with a copy of the representation in their offices to get things done for his constituency.
“In those days, members of the ruling dispensation often pointed out that I was not allowing the House to function properly. Hence, why should I be given funds? But I used to say that the chief minister was not the chief minister of my party, but of the people of the entire Andhra Pradesh (before bifurcation),” explained Etala about how he fought for funds for his constituency.
“One of the chief ministers of undivided Andhra Pradesh once refused to release a single penny and threw an open challenge to me, stating that I could do whatever I deemed fit. My reply to him was that Mr CM, you are just a servant to the public, not an owner,” Etala explained.
