Excise Police Nab Man with 550 Grams of Dry Ganja in Borabanda

Hyderabad: The Ameerpet excise police arrested a man who was transporting 550 grams of dry ganja on his two-wheeler and seized the contraband in Borabanda early on Thursday. Police said they were trying to indentify his customers.

Kothagudem: Two Maoists Surrender to Police and CRPF

Kothagudem: Two Maoists on Thursday surrendered before the district police and CRPF at Kothagudem. They were identified as Shabari area committee member Vetti Lakshmaiah, 22, of Kistarampadu of Cherla mandal and Gollapally incharge Mallam Deva, 32, from Sukma district in Chhattisgarh. SP .B Rohith Raju said Laxmaiah joined the Maoists in 2011 while Deva was enlisted in 2007.

35-Year-Old Man Killed in Narsingi Hit-and-Run

A 35-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident at about 3 am on Thursday on the Narsingi-Kokapet service road, Narsingi police said.

Narsingi circle inspector Hari Krishna Reddy said the police received a call from locals informing them about the body of an unidentified man on the road. Police took the victim to the Osmania General Hospital where he was declared dead. Police booked a case and began checking CCTV footage to identify the runaway driver.

Scammers Impersonate Nagarkurnool Collector to Extort Money

Nagarkurnool district collector Badavath Santosh on Thursday lodged a complaint with the police that certain persons were trying to extort money by making calls with his display picture (DP).

Police, who booked a case and began investigations, said unidentified persons had created a profile with the collector's picture and started calling government employees and asking for money to be deposited through the UPI interface.

The collector obtained screenshots of WhatsApp conversations with the gang and lodged a complaint.
