Facelift for Warangal Fort Soon, Says Minister Konda Surekha

The fort will be transformed into an eco & temple tourism hub

Warangal: The Warangal Fort region will be developed into an eco and temple tourism hub, endowment minister Konda Surekha said on Sunday. She directed officials to prepare proposals and submit them to the government.

The minister along with city mayor Gundu Sudharani, district collector Satya Sharada, GWMC commissioner Ashwin Tanaji Wakhade, forest officer Anuz Agarwal inspected the Ekashila playground, Agarthala Cheruvu, Trikutalayam, Shabuni gudi and museum of the archaeology department present in fort region.

Konda Surekha directed the officials to take steps for the beautification of Agartala Chervu and make arrangements for boating and fishing along with making colourful lighting facilities on the bund.

With the growth of weeds and shrubs around important structures in the fort, they are not visible. The minister asked the officials to clear them and maintain the surroundings clean and hygienic.

She also asked officials to complete the construction of Warangal Fort community hall and take steps for the construction of an extra first floor on the community hall.

The minister said she will sanction funds for taking up all developmental works including the museum for bringing back the past glory of the fort.

There are at least 20 important temples since the Kakatiya rulers. By renovating the temples, steps will be taken so that devotees can visit these temples, she assured.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will visit Warangal on September 9 and inaugurate the renovated structures in the fort.
