Hyderabad: What appeared to be an ironing shop in the lanes of Jahangirabad was exposed as a front for a black magic scam. Bandlaguda police arrested Ilyas Ahmed, 35, for cheating people in the name of possessing powers and black magic.

Since arriving in the city in 2012, Ahmed worked in his ironing shop. He lured in people claiming he could cure their ailments and resolve financial crises through mystical rituals and supernatural powers.

A source revealed that he performed elaborate ceremonies, drawing symbols and claiming to banish negative energy from their lives. Many unsuspecting individuals handed over large sums of money, seeking relief from their troubles.

It all came out when a local kirana store owner noticed the goings-on and reported the practice to the police, leading to Ahmed's arrest by the task force team and Bandlaguda police.
