Fire breaks out in Hyderabad amidst Diwali celebrations

Hyderabad: The Telangana Disaster Response and Fire Services department received 33 distress calls on Thursday in relation to fire accidents during Diwali. There were no casualties.

In Himayatnagar, a blaze was erupted at Keerthi Shikara Apartments. An unattended lamp, which was left open in a locked room in the apartment's third floor, set off a fire. The fire department responded promptly, and prevented the spread of the flames.

In another incident, a footwear store in Secunderabad caught fire. The firefighters quickly doused the flames, limiting the damage. A furniture shop in Saroornagar was gutted by fire. Additionally, a few minor cracker-related incidents took place across the city.

Though the festive season led to unfortunate losses worth Rs. 37.60 lakh, the GHMC along with the firefighters managed to save property worth `10.32 crore, preventing significant damage. Despite the issuance of safety protocols by GHMC and Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA). fire break-outs continued to be reported until the midnight of Diwali.
