Five-year-old boy attacked by strays in Sangareddy recalls nightmare
SANGAREDDY: It was a nightmare for five-year-old Harshavardhan, who was collecting pebbles in front of his aunt's residence at Srinagar colony in Sangareddy town, when a pack of stray dogs cornered and attacked him. Within seconds, the neighbour and jail department employee Srinivas Reddy rescued the boy from the dogs.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the boy said that he was scared when dogs came nearer when he was collecting pebbles to play with his sisters.
"I came to my aunt's residence from Mominpet of Vikarabad district to attend a cousin’s birthday celebrations. Uncle (Srinivas Reddy) rushed to the place and pelted stoned on the dogs," Harshavardhan said.
A. Sangeetha, the boy's aunt, said that Harshavardhan was playing inside, and he suddenly went out to collect small stones.
"We were all inside the house and did not notice the attack," she said.
The boy's mother Kaniska said that they had come from Mekavanipally of Mominpet in Vikarabad district to attend a birthday party slated for June 1. On the same day, the stray dogs attacked her son and he suffered injuries.
"It was a divine blessing that the neighbour Srinivas Reddy saved my son in the nick of time. Harshavardhan is now stable and has been suffering from fever for two days," Kanishka said.
Meanwhile, a resident of Srinagar colony, Mangali Krishna said that the stray dogs menace has increased in the locality and they had lodged complaints with the municipal officials.
He said after the latest incident, some municipal employees turned up and shifted some stray dogs from the place.
