The transfers were made citing negligence in duties that led to a food poisoning incident on September 30, resulting in the hospitalisation of 64 students in the district.

Following the incident, collector Venkatesh Dhotre appointed a committee to conduct an inquiry into the food poisoning case. He issued orders late at night on the same day to ensure a swift investigation. The committee completed its inquiry and submitted a report, after which the collector instructed the ITDA project officer to take action against the responsible staff members.
The students were treated at NIMS, Hyderabad. On November 6, Mancherial collector Kumar Deepak suspended district tribal welfare officer M. Gangaram in connection with the food poisoning incident at Tribal Ashram School in Saikunta, Mancherial town. At least 12 girls fell ill during the incident and were admitted to the hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition. Gangaram was suspended on charges of negligence in his duties and for failing to inform higher authorities about the incident promptly.
The Telangana authorities have emphasised the importance of maintaining strict hygiene and prompt reporting to prevent such incidents in the future. Measures are being taken to ensure better oversight and accountability within government schools to safeguard the health and well-being of students.
