Adilabad: Forest officials from Adilabad and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts on Monday found cattle killed by tigers in their respective areas. In Chorgaon village, Narnoor mandal, forest staff found a cattle kill, with owner Tharachand Naik reporting that a tiger attacked his cow while it was grazing near the village outskirts.
In response to the increasing tiger activities, forest personnel conducted awareness programmes in Sungapur and Khairdatwa within the Indravelli Forest Range in Adilabad. They aimed to educate villagers on avoiding actions that could harm tigers and to promote coexistence with wildlife.
Meanwhile, in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, another incident occurred on the outskirts of Rasimetta village in Jainoor mandal. The cow, owned by Sidam Kannriram, was killed by a tiger. Deputy forest officer Neeraj Tibrewal visited the site and inspected the tiger paw marks, confirming the attack. Officials identified that a female tiger had entered the Rasimetta forest area in Kerameri from Wankidi in Maharashtra, with the first attack reported on November 15.
To address the losses, the forest department provided immediate compensation of Rs 5,000 to the cattle owners. Additionally, forest staff advised farmers and agricultural labourers to refrain from cotton picking in the fields for two days due to the tiger's presence in the area. Jodeghat FRO Gnaneshwar and Kerameri FRO Majaruddin were present during the safety briefings to ensure effective communication of the precautions.
