Hyderabad:In the PIL seeking a CBI probe into the transaction of allocation of 850 acres of land here to IMG Bharata Academics Ltd for construction and operation of sports academies in 2004 by the then TD government, then sports minister P. Ramulu, who is now in the BJP, submitted before the High Court an inquiry was not necessary 20 years after the transaction.

He submitted that the Telangana High Court had restored the land to the state.

Senior counsel Siddhartha Luthra, appearing for Ramulu, argued that there were political motives in filing the PILs seeking a CBI probe, than public interest.

The division bench of the High Court, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Sreenivas Rao, was dealing with PILs filed in 2012 by veteran journalist A.B.K. Prasad and advocate T. Sriranga Rao.

Luthra submitted that the High Court and trial courts in an earlier round of litigation had dismissed the pleas of Congress leaders like P. Goverdhan Reddy and YSRCP leader Y.S. Vijayamma who were seeking a CBI probe into the IMG case.
