Funds Released for Repairs at OU’s Arts College
Hyderabad: Dana Kishore, principal secretary of the State Government's Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department (MA&UD), HMDA commissioner, and in-charge vice-chancellor of Osmania University, released funds from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) for the painting and repair works of the Arts College, during his visit to the college on Wednesday.
Kishore, one of the in-charge vice-chancellors among the recently appointed IAS officers, is one of the first to start this long-awaited work at Osmania University. He inspected the library, classrooms, and seminar halls on the ground and first floors of the Arts College. He interacted with students, faculty, and administrative staff to understand their needs and concerns. Accompanying him were OU Registrar Prof P. Lakshminarayana, OSD to the vice-chancellor Prof. B. Reddya Naik, Arts College principal Prof Kutadi Arjun Rao, vice principal Dr Bheenaveni Ram Shepherd, OU Chief Engineer Prof Radhika, and officials from HMDA.
The vice-chancellor directed the OU chief engineer and HMDA officials to prepare the estimates for repairs quickly. He also instructed the development of new fencing around the college and a new lawn in front of the State Bank of India branch beside the Arts College. Plans will also be made for a new reading room near the main library with a capacity for 500 students, with the required funds provided by HMDA.
In addition to the infrastructure improvements, Kishore announced an international student exchange programme sponsored by HMDA. This initiative will support six students from OU to participate in an exchange programme with universities in Thailand. Postgraduate and PhD students from various faculties can apply for this fellowship support to gain international exposure and enhance their research capabilities.
