Hyderabad: GHMC and the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) personnel in a joint operation cleared encroachments from footpaths in West Marredpally on Saturday, clearing the way for pedestrians.

The drive targeted encroachments by commercial establishments, including pole signboards, overhead display boards, staircases, sheds, and other illegal constructions. Officials used excavators and earthmovers to dismantle and remove these structures.

The operation, conducted with the support of local police, resulted in the removal of dozens of unauthorised installations. Additional commissioner of police, traffic, P. Residents in the area appreciated the move, as the encroachments had been causing inconvenience to pedestrians and creating traffic problems. Meanwhile, GHMC and SCB authorities urged business owners to not encroach public property, and warned of strict action against offenders.
