GHMC Razes Illegal Structures near Former AP CM Jagan's House in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has demolished illegal structures in front of Andhra Pradesh former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's residence in Lotus Pond in Jubilee Hills here on Saturday.
The unauthorized constructions, intended for Jagan's security, had allegedly encroached upon the road, causing public inconvenience.
The GHMC has taken up the demolition drive following complaints received from locals. Using a crane, the civic workers razed a room made up of asbestos sheets and removed beds and other material being used by the security personnel.
Anticipating that a large number of Jagan’s supporters would throng Lotus Pond, the civic officials took the assistance of the police to prevent any untoward incident at Jubilee Hills and its surroundings.
The demolition drive is aimed at restoring public access and to enforce building regulations effectively. While local residents welcomed the action for easing traffic, Jagan's supporters argued that the rooms were necessary for his safety and stop demolition drive.
