Ghose panel gets two more months to probe KLIS

The commission was tasked to inquire into the irregularities in construction of Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages of the project.

Hyderabad: The state government on Saturday extended the term of the Justice P.C. Ghose judicial commission of inquiry into various aspects of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme’s (KLIS) barrages till February 28.

The commission was tasked to inquire into the irregularities in construction of Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages of the project. Justice Ghose has so far heard depositions from officials and others who submitted affidavits and conducted cross examinations of officials from the irrigation department. He is expected to cross-examine representatives from L&T PES-JV, Afcons and Navayuga, the contracted agencies that built the three barrages.

Saturday’s extension is the fourth for the Commission. The government had given time till June 30. Subsequently, it was extended by two more months twice, first up to August 31, and then up to October 31, and its term was extended for a third time till December 31.
