Govt. initiating steps for digitization of peoples health profile: CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Thursday that the state government would commence collecting the data of four crore citizens within 30 days under the ‘Family Digital Health’ programme. He pointed out that the absence of accessible health records forces citizens to undergo repeated medical tests each time they visit a hospital.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Durgabai Deshmukh Renova Cancer Centre in Vidyanagar, Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of digitising health records pf the state’s population, stating that health and education were the government’s top priorities.
“By collecting and digitising health data, we are making sure that medical history is readily available, ensuring better and faster care. This will also reduce unnecessary repeat tests and ease the healthcare process,” Revanth Reddy said. He added that the government would seek collaboration with institutions like the Andhra Mahila Sabha Durgabai Deshmukh Trust to help gather and digitise citizen health data.
Revanth Reddy stressed the need for affordable cancer care and expressed concern for families facing financial difficulties due to expensive treatments. The Chief Minister applauded Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital for establishing the cancer centre, promising to positively consider the proposals put forth by the institution.
Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha highlighted the growing number of cancer cases, many of which are detected at a late stage. To combat this, the state government plans to establish cancer centres at the district level in a phased manner, aiming to improve early diagnosis and treatment accessibility.
