Warangal: The Telangana state government reaffirmed its dedication to uplifting the poor and ensuring their empowerment by announcing the launch of four significant welfare schemes on January 26. This commitment was highlighted by Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, the minister for revenue, housing, information, and public relations, during a review meeting held at the Collectorate conference hall in Hanamkonda on Sunday.

Accompanied by minister Konda Surekha and minister Seethakka, Srinivas Reddy chaired the meeting with officials from various departments to discuss the implementation of the new schemes: Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa, Indiramma Houses, and the distribution of new ration cards. Speaking at the event, Reddy emphasised the government's focus on both development and welfare, aligning their efforts with the aspirations of the people.
Reddy instructed officials to conduct Gram Sabhas at village and municipal levels to facilitate the implementation of the four schemes. He stressed the importance of selecting beneficiaries through extensive publicity using tom-toms and public announcement systems. Additionally, he mandated that teams visiting villages and municipalities include representatives from the agriculture, revenue, and public distribution departments to ensure a comprehensive approach.
For the Indiramma house selection process, Reddy highlighted that priority would be given to poor families without homes. He also called for the establishment of support centres during Gram and ward sabha meetings to assist in the smooth execution of the schemes.
In a subsequent press meet, minister Reddy reiterated the government's commitment to development and welfare, fulfilling promises made before the elections. He detailed the Rythu Bharosa scheme, which provides eligible farmers with ₹12,000 for two crops per year, disbursed in two installments. This initiative aims to support farmers facing financial challenges and elevate their status.
Reddy criticised the previous government for inadequately addressing the distribution of ration cards, noting that only a limited number were provided. In contrast, the current administration pledged to issue new ration cards to all eligible beneficiaries without requiring additional recommendations. He urged district collectors to ensure meticulous selection of beneficiaries, aligning with the government's objectives and minimising errors.
Emphasising the need for integrity, Srinivas Reddy called on collectors and officials to work diligently to ensure that government schemes reach deserving beneficiaries promptly and efficiently. “We must ensure that every eligible person receives the benefits of these programmes without any delay or negligence,” he stated.
